IMPORTANT INFORMATION

What is scent work?
Scent work is a dog sport and enrichment activity where dogs learn to locate specific target odours using their natural sense of smell.

Is this kit suitable for beginners?
Yes. This kit is specifically designed for people and dogs who are new to scent work and includes guidance to help you get started.

What age can my dog start scent work?
Dogs of almost any age can participate. Puppies, adult dogs, and senior dogs can all enjoy scent work activities when training is adjusted to their individual abilities.

How should I store the odours?
Store odours in the supplied containers with lids securely closed and away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Ideally away from your dog too!

Why are tweezers included?
Tweezers help prevent contamination from skin oils and reduce the risk of transferring odour onto other surfaces.

Can I use the same tweezers for different odours?
We recommend using dedicated tweezers for each odour.

Can I use the same odour vessel for different odours?
We recommend using dedicated vessels for each odour. This way you are able to ensure your dog will only indicate on the correct odour vessel and not a contaminated vessel.

What are scent vessels used for?
Scent vessels allow you to create realistic training hides in a variety of environments while protecting the odour source.

How long do the odours last?
With proper storage, odours can remain effective for many months. Replacement odours are available separately. It is recommended to replace cotton buds every six months.

I highly recommend Wyld Dog's Scent Detection Foundations seminar to anyone looking to build a solid base in scent work. The content was practical and well-structured, covering the key foundations in a way that was easy to understand and apply, regardless of whether you're training fun or trialling. Victoria brought a wealth of experience to the room, and having that knowledge delivered in a hands-on, practical format made all the difference. I had the pleasure of attending my first dog training workshop over the weekend run by Vic from Wyld Dog, with the help of Courtney from Project Canine and Elly from complete canine dog training. The workshop focused on scent work foundations and as a vet nurse myself i am familiar with the canine nose structure and what it capable of so it was a great for me to learn how to incorporate the training aspect of scent. The workshop was informative, fun and gave me a greater understand of a how to encourage our dogs to use there nose in scentwork for enrichment, sport and overall fun in a way anyone could understand and enjoy. Having 2 Aussie shepherds of my own i'm always interested in finding new ways to enrich them rather than a walk or swim!
